  Rezumat:  Poverty, Trust and Utility Relations in Ponor, Alba Country. Rural communities are in the sphere of sociologists’ preoccupations that, besides useful diagnoses, among others, for intervention programmes, try to elucidate the causative links between the different dimensions of poverty. In the present study we dwell upon one of the poor communes from Apuseni Mountains, analysing its specific nature from the perspective of the connection between poverty, utilitarian relations and reliance. In Ponor, neighbourhood and then relationship are the institutions that natives rely the most on in decreasing poverty while the poorer is the household, the bigger is the reliance on people and formal institutions.
