  Rezumat:  If culture is a “hierarchy of values”, the individual should have a say to keep the balance between sets of values and what Foucault calls “the culture of the self”, a process and a shift between the ‘outside’ (world) and the ‘inside’(self). Foucault’s well known theory about the movement of the subject towards itself, called “self-conversion” defines the millennium old tension between the creative/ meditating individual and its untamed search for knowledge. Beginning with the late 20th century and the 21st, the relationship became even more difficult in a knowledge-based world in which discriminating between true and false means building a ‘personal system’ of truths and related beliefs by means of examination, analysis and interpretation (Foucault:2004 ; McGuinn: 2002).
