	Rezumat: The Object Management Group (OMG) has recently recom- mended for adoption the proposal that will be the basis for the new version of the Unified Modeling Language UML. In this version 2.0 of UML, the component model has been completely modified. The first goal of this paper is to describe this new model. The second goal is to study if it is really more than a notation improvement. We go through the requirements for a general component modeling language, the existing efforts in this area, and the new UML 2.0 model itself.
