  Rezumat:  The volume The dimensions of Global Citizenship: Political Identity beyond the Nation-State, written by Darren J. O’Byrne, has as aims to emphasize the process of how was possible the swift from national citizenship, which is protected by the physical barriers of one state, to a global one that is being preserved only by citizens willingness to be part of a shared community. The author argues in the convincing way that a global dimension of citizenship is not a consequence of globalization, but rather it has been there from the very beginning and is an alternative to the national citizenship.
