  Rezumat:  What I will try to do in the followings is a work of cultural archaeology. And because the subject refers to the American culture and the American history of culture, I will start by putting the question about its essence, the question about its way of being. In what way can we speak about an American culture? From where did its path begin? The answer that I will try to offer will concentrate around a single keyword, and that is Abendland, the concept developed by Gianni Vattimo in his hermeneutical works on Heidegger and Nietzsche.
