  Rezumat:  In the framework of the modern information and knowledge-based society, ICT (information and communication technologies) implementation is a necessary condition for increasing activity efficiency in various fields. The paper proposes overall strategies and methods for applying such IT measures, adapted to the specific objectives and characteristics of each organization. A case study is focused on some Romanian small and medium enterprises and discusses positive and negative aspects related to ICT implementations carried out within these organizations. In this respect, we conclude that inadequate investments are not profitable, whereas efficiency comes by applying proper ICT strategies, adapted to the organization''s goals and characteristics.
