  Rezumat:  Anglo-Romanian trade had never been a high priority in British policy; the supply of oil and timber seemed promising in the second half of the nineteenth century, however Anglo-Romanian trade had never developed to such a level as for example German-Romanian trade. The economic dependency of Romania on the German market continued well into the twentieth century and helped to create the alliance between the two countries at the end of the interbellum. As a result of the alliance with Germany Romania became an enemy of H.M.G. during the Second World War and all channels of communication and trade between the two countries were shut down. It would take until the second half of 1944 before relations between H.M.G. and Romania were restored and the first document on the possibilities of Anglo-Romanian trade following the war was written in September 1944
