Rezumat: The present study includes a general background regarding the new industry of media – how does the new digital era of media looks like? Which are the media formats? Who and how are consuming media productions in the epoch of emerging sophisticated gadgets? Which are the new functions and roles of media in a world where, at least under technical approach, more and more individuals are able to communicate since communication tools are generally available? New formats, new media marketing strategies, new professional minimum standards for the job description of a journalist - so, in this new era of communication, what should the journalism schools around the world teach their students? Trying to answer to this question, the study also presents ideas from a larger study where the author contributed for a guide that has been developed during a collective research conducted within a European program implemented under the coordination of IHECS, Brussels, Belgium, and coordinated by Mr. Dan Lee from London City University. The mentioned project aims to produce a relevant guideline for practicing European journalism, addressed both to professional journalists and journalism students. Keywords: media industry, new era of communication, media formats, journalism curriculum, UNESCO |
