Rezumat: The electrochemical behavior of bronze in an aerated solution of 0.2 g/L Na2SO4 + 0.2 g/L NaHCO3 (pH=5), in the absence and in the presence of different amino acids was studied using open-circuit potential and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. The investigated amino acids were: glutamic acid (Glu), arginine (Arg), histidine (His), methionine (Met) and cysteine (Cys). The impedance measurements revealed that the bronze interface in the presence of the amino acids could be suitably represented by a 3RC equivalent electrical circuit. The magnitude of polarization resistance, determined from the impedance spectra, and the efficiency of corrosion inhibition were found to significantly depend on the structure of amino acids. The protection efficiencies of the investigated compounds decrease in the order: Cys > Glu > Met > Arg > His.
