Rezumat: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (PDCA) synthesis process by quinoxaline chemical oxidation on nickel electrode with electrochemically regenerated potassium permanganate (KMnO4). The investigation of electrode reaction was carried out through cyclic voltammetry and an efficient electrolyser for PDCA synthesis was used. Anodic regeneration of Mn7+ on the nickel electrode is possible. This process is favoured by KOH, Mn7+ (Mn6+ implicitly) and quinoxaline concentrations as well as by temperature increase. Current and substance efficiencies of 80% and 85%, respectively, were achieved.
