  Rezumat:  Growth Assessment and Characterization of the Photosynthetic Apparatus of the Green Alga Mougeotia sp. (Chlorophyta). Growth assessment of the green alga Mougeotia sp. by means of the Δlog2 O.D., during 15 days, under lighting of 300 Μmol.m-2.s-1, generated a growth curve with exponential growth rate R = 0.309, a mean growth rate Rm = 0.193 and a generation time g = 3.24. A dry weight of 114.66 mg.l-1 with a high protein content was obtained. Pigment analysis showed a normal content af a and b chlorophyll and of carotenoids. HPLC analysis revealed the presence of the following major carotenoids: β-carotene, α-cryptoxanthin, lutein, anteraxanthin, violaxanthin and neoxanthin.
