Rezumat: The Symbol of the Cross. The cross, an ancient symbol that travelled through the centuries of history, is beeing seen by most of the people as a divine characteristic. Ethimologically speaking, the word “cross” comes from the sanscrit language, later used by the Greek language in sense of someone or something that stands still, that’s strong and healthy, a symbol of foundation-stavros and then translated from Latin, the term will be integrated in the roumanian vocabulary as “cruce”, crux in Latin. As a Symbol of the Passion of the Christ, we find the cross both in the Holy Bible and in the writings of the Fathers of the Church. The sign of thav and tau, Christ’s monogram, the fish, the anchor, the ship, the lamb, world’s tree are usually found in various writings and works of art alongisde the sign and the symbol of the cross. | |||||||
